How long does it take to transport a vehicle?
- Vehicle shipping depends on various factors such as the miles the vehicle will be traveling, weather variables and road conditions as well as the driver’s limitations on the amount of miles or hours they are allowed to legally drive per day. Sancrest will make every effort to provide you with as accurate an estimate as possible as to your delivery date and we are available to provide tracking details on your shipment as well.
When will you pick up my vehicle?
- We generally provide prompt pickup services, between one and seven days from the date of your order. Under certain circumstances, such as large, oversized or inoperable autos, the pickup date may take slightly longer. Your Sancrest shipment specialist will work with your particular vehicle needs to arrange for pickup with you as soon as possible.
What is the difference between open and enclosed trailers?
- An open trailer is a car hauler that is exposed the elements and the most common type of car hauler you see on the highways today. They can typically carry up to 10 vehicles.
- An enclosed trailer is a box trailer that fully protects the vehicle from outside elements. They can typically carry up to 6 vehicles.
Is my vehicle insured during shipment?
- Yes! Sancrest carries both liability and cargo insurance on your vehicle while in transit.
Can I ship personal items inside my vehicle?
- No. The Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations prohibit the transport of personal and household items while the vehicle is in transit by an auto carrier. Additionally, items left in a vehicle that is being shipped are not covered by our insurance nor are damages to the vehicle covered should they be the result of shifting and movement of prohibited personal and household items.
How much does it cost to ship a car?
- The pricing for vehicle shipping is determined by mileage, pickup and drop off locations, vehicle size and any specific considerations that must be made for your particular vehicle. Sancrest will make every effort possible to provide you with the best service at the best price.
Do I need to be present when my vehicle is picked up or dropped off?
- Yes. We require that you or an authorized representative be present during our routine vehicle inspection process to document the condition of the vehicle prior to transit as well as at the time of unloading.
Can I ship a car that doesn’t run?
- Yes. We require that you inform us in advance of the vehicle’s operating condition so that we can take the proper measures in ensuring we can safely load and unload your vehicle.
